Fresh Off The Runway: Proenza Schouler Spring 2018 RTW
Parisian couture meets Americana cool in Proenza Schouler’s 2018 Spring collection. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the powerhouse duo behind the brand joined a group of fellow designer’s in a move to Paris. Well, their Spring 2018 collection anyway.
While the brand would normally show in New York in September, Jack & Lazaro joined Haute Couture week in the City of Lights to help increase buzz and visibility. While the boys always cater to the effortless cool ‘It’ girls of the world, this collection takes their aesthetic to a whole other level. While they’re known for femininity with an edge, I find this collection of garments far more softer than anything else they’ve done over the last few years. Perhaps showing in Paris influenced the designers to elevate their creative juices to cater to a sexier, more romance driven audience. Cascading ruffles, asymmetrical cut-outs, leather harnesses, intricate lace, marabou feathers and touches of tulle all dominate. Making the pieces perfect for most women who like to play on both aides of the fashion fence. Even with the traces of couture the hip factor is still very present for Proenza Schouler, and if you can sell fashion in Paris-you can sell it anywhere.
*Celebrity Wish-List: Rooney Mara, Kristen Stewart, Sienna Miller, Jennifer Lawrence, and Scarlett Johansson.
