Best Dressed of The Week: Golden Globes Edition
Thanks to the powerful and effective #TimesUp initiative the Golden Globes was turned into a stylish sea of black for last night’s ceremony.
The ladies of Hollywood joined together to support women’s equality and the right to speak your truth. We knew beforehand that the color of the night would be black, but I had no doubts that the amazing stylists behind these artists would make each look special. From Dakota Johnson’s twinkling Gucci back, to Angelina’s fancy Versace feathers, to Diane Kruger’s marvelous crystal Prada cape-they did not disappoint. Did I miss color on the red carpet? Of course. But I love seeing women banning together and making a statement, especially about changes that should have been made long ago. My only real gripe was this ‘rule’ that I suppose E! decided to go with of not asking who anyone was wearing. If you go to the trouble of dressing up and people tune into a red carpet, we’re gonna wanna know who you are wearing. It doesn’t make the conversation any less important, It’s a few seconds to give respect and appreciation to the team that helped put your look together. A team who supports why you are wearing black. Fashion stylists, hairdressers, makeup artists, assistants, manicurists, designers-the list goes on and on. As someone who works behind the scenes of things like this myself, I feel like these people deserve a little praise. Besides, you can certainly care about women’s rights AND fashion, I’m not sure who came up with the idea that you can’t. Hopefully by the next awards show this will be a thing of the past. Otherwise you might as well show up in sweats, am I right?
Below you can see my 10 best black moments of the evening in all their red carpet history making glory.
