Beauty Report: Pat McGrath Labs Lust: MatteTrance Lipsticks
Makeup artist Pat McGrath has been called “the most influential makeup artist in the world”, and for good reason. For over 20 years Pat has been the creative brains behind fashion shows, editorials shoots, and major cosmetic companies.
She is currently Global Cosmetics Creative Design Director for Procter and Gamble behind some of the world’s most glamorous and powerful make up brand names-Max Factor, CoverGirl, SK-II and the recently launched Dolce and Gabanna. On top of all of that the England born MUA launched her very own line back in 2015. She introduced her brand with mind-blowing eye pigments, and now she is taking on lips with her brand new Lust: MatteTrance lipsticks. To spite their name, the new these beauties have the feel of satin and the look of velvet. Which to me is a very good thing. Yes, they are described as matte (which they are, as there is no sheen to the formula) but the usual feeling and look of dryness that comes along with that will not be found here. The pigment is so intense, you only need one swipe, and there’s no need to worry about cracking and feeling uncomfortable either. These lipsticks aren’t your average matte. McGrath is starting out with 9 shades that range from nude to vampy, and accommodate all skintones. Many of the colors are named after Pat’s famous friends and muses. ‘Omi’ (a beige nude) is named after supermodel Naomi Campbell, while ‘Elson’ is a bold, bright red inspired by singer/songwriter/model Karen Elson. The packaging is extraordinary, designed in sleek black and gold with each tube having it’s own lip print embossed on the front for an extra touch of high end glamour. The single lipsticks retail for $38, or you can go for a trio-Skin Show (nudes), Color Blitz (brights), and Viscious Venoms (deeper tones)- for $95. If you are head over heels for the entire lot, you can purchase the vault for a cool $295.
MatteTrance hits patmcgrath.com on July 13th, and will be available on Sephora‘s site, as well as seven select stores, on July 28th. Like most Pat products these are expected to sale out, so start calculating your shopping game plan now.
