Beauty Report: Chanel To Launch First Men’s Makeup Line ‘Boy de Chanel’
With the recent boom in the beauty industry a collection dedicated to even the manliest of men was bound to become a thing. Chanel will be the first prestige brand to venture into the men’s makeup arena and will no doubt pave the way for many more to come.
Gentlemen who want to feel a little extra groomed and polished will now have products that will keep them looking extra handsome on those days you just don’t feel like going full drag (in the words of Jeffree Star….can’t relate.) One of the many assumptions some men make about wearing makeup is that they will look too feminine, but with products like these they will have the option of simply accentuating their best features and enhancing their skin. The three product line includes lip balm, a brow pencil (in 4 shades), and a tinted foundation (4 shades as well). The collection is named after Coco Chanel’s muse and lover Boy Capel.
While the very idea of a line aimed specifically at men has already ruffled some feathers for those that believe makeup has no gender, Chanel says “beauty is not a matter of gender, it is a matter of style.” Which is absolutely true in my opinion. If you look at ad campaigns, Instagram, and especially Youtube men are dominating the beauty field. With brands turning to men to create and promote entire collections and products, a line like this feels long overdue.
The Boy de Chanel line will become available on September 1st in South Korea before it makes it way around the globe.
