Beauty Report: The Benefits of A Professional Facial
It may be surprising to learn that a beauty obsessed gal like myself has never dove into the world of professional skincare. That all changed last weekend when I finally took the plunge and got my first facial by an aesthetician.
If you are wondering why I held off for so long, it was simply because I have very sensitive skin and wasn’t sure how my body would react to the treatments. Since I have a longtime family friend with her very own aesthetics business I knew I could trust her completely with making sure I got the absolute best when it came to caring for my skin. Kate Cramer of Pure Aesthetíque took the time to really focus on what I consider my problem areas, and when I left I couldn’t believe how phenomenal my skin felt. It was as if I had a brand new face. Not only did I feel amazingly clean and fresh, my skin looked noticeably glowy and the best part- zero irritation! The added bonus, was the next day when I applied my makeup. I could tell a significant difference in the smoothness, as well as how much smaller my pores looked.
To further educate my readers on exactly what Kate did (and used) she shared a few tidbits with me. Below she breaks down the treatments and procedures that helped take my 35+ skin to the next level.
Since Jesse had never had a professional facial before I thought I’d introduce her to the mecca of all facials, the ‘Intraceuticals Hyperbaric Oxygen Facial’. Which is a favorite among celebrities, and truly out stands any other facials including the infamous hydra facial.
With first timers my first step is to always thoroughly cleanse the skin using the Intraceuticals gentle cleanser;
This non-irritating gel cleanser combines gentle vegetable-based cleansing agents with skin soothing botanicals. It helps support the skin’s healthy barrier function. It thoroughly (but gently) cleanses, removes make-up, excess oils and impurities. It also preps the skin for my next step, the application of the 3 Step Hyaluronic Layering and Boosters. I furthered the first step by adding rotary brushes which are soft bristled, spinning brushes (small for nasal area and around the mouth and large for neck and the rest of the face) that allow for a deeper cleanse and help to polish and brighten skin-tone.
I then moved on to exfoliation with Intraceuticals Rejuvenate Enzyme Exfoliant, prepared with fruit enzymes which soften and help smooth the skin surface, whilst lactic acid promotes cellular renewal, and salicylic acid helps clear and refine visible pores. The formula is made with gentle Carnauba, Beeswax and Bamboo beads which help lift and manually sweep away dull skin. It also amplifies radiance and provides a perfect base for the application of the 3 Step Hyaluronic Layering.
Once properly cleansed and exfoliated, I then introduced her skin to the Rejuvenate Professional Serum which is infused into the skin through an application method utilizing hyperbaric oxygen to promote the delivery of this particular chosen serum into the skin. The serum applicator, much like an airbrush sprayer, creates a hyperbaric pressure bubble to initiate osmotic hydration and ingredient delivery. The process of slowly gliding over the surface of the skin whilst using a specific pattern over of the skin provides the immediate action of plump, hydrated skin which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The lips and surrounding skin got to take part as well, getting to experience the same benefits as the rest of her face and neck.
Intraceuticals revolutionized the use of Hyaluronics (hyaluronic acid and hyaluronate) so much that Intraceuticals has a patent for “3 step hyaluronic layering” technology which is the foundation of their skin care. The first low weight hyaluronic is known to revive the daily serum that was infused. It also comes in an at-home tube that twists up and pumps out. Jesse received the infusion so I didn’t apply that serum directly to her skin.
The ‘Rejuvenation Hydration Gel’ provides a reservoir of effective ingredients for the skin to draw from. The ‘Moisture Binding Cream’ provides a breathable barrier that locks all the goodness in. Overall a smoother, tighter, improved facial volume and hydration were all achieved. Results are immediate and enhance in the first 24 hours lasting 7-10 days without at home skin care, which is highly recommended for optimal results and longevity. I recommend no more than 2-3 times a week in general in regards to exfoliation. All other products can be used right before makeup,and/or twice a day. Be sure to cleanse before all three steps are applied right after the other.
While Intraceuticals were the main products I used specifically on Jesse. I have a plethora of skin care that my clients are able to indulge in. That is the beauty of owning my own business as an aesthetician, I get to play with all of the skin care known to man, so don’t be surprised if I muster up a cocktail of different, top brands when you come to see me! For instance, I splashed Tammy Fender’s Bulgarian Rose Water and essential c tonic to invigorate Jesse’s skin after the facial was over and all products were applied. I also used Clinical Care Skin Solutions Sugar Lips Scrub because nothing is worse than a wonderfully hydrated face and dry, cracked, burning lips.
I try to weed out the best of the best for my clients and not offer what every other med spa currently promotes. You will get top notch results in return!
