Beauty Report: Mac x Disney’s “Aladdin” Collection
Mac Cosmetics has had a long-running relationship with Disney, and their collaborations with the company’s films have been a huge success for both. While we haven’t seen one in a while, the two are back and giving us some serious Arabian Nights vibes with their highly anticipated “Aladdin” collection.
I was very excited to see what they would do with this collection because “Aladdin” offers so many beautiful references and colors. But, I have to be honest I expected a little more than this. Maybe I should blame the brand’s ‘Cinderella” collection a few years back, that was so stunningly beautiful in both packaging and product that it set a standard that has yet to be topped. Don’t get me wrong, the “Aladdin” collection is of course pleasing to the eye, I just thought Mac would really take things to the next level with this one. The packaging is sleek and gold with a hint of Jasmine’s turquoise laced in, which is pretty, but with all the bold shades in the film it’s a tad lack luster. As for the products, we aren’t getting our usual full Mac collection with this lot. Gone seem to be the varieties of lipsticks, highlighters and glosses as the entire collection is only a mere 3 pieces. I again can’t help but be disappointed that this is all we are getting. Even the 9 pan eyeshadow palette is pretty ordinary considering the film is filled with gorgeous jewel-tones. Along with the eye palette is a bronzer (which looks pretty deep) embossed with the Genie’s lamp and a bright fuchsia lipstick. Will this collection take you on a magic carpet ride? Probably not, but it does at least put you in mind of the film, and will most likely be something that collectors won’t wanna pass up.
While I do think the 3 pieces are nice to look at I will have to make my final opinions once I see the items in person and test them for myself. I think there will be plenty of people who love this collection, but if you are a hardcore Disney and Mac fan like myself I have a feeling these products might not take you to a whole new world like you might have expected. Here’s hoping!
Below you can get a closer look at each product to see which ones will be making your must-have list. The collection will be available online at MacCosmetics.com on May 16th with a wider release to follow shortly after.
