Beauty Report: Makeup Revolution x Friends Collection
25 years after it’s television debut “Friends” is still the git that keeps on giving. Thanks to syndication the show has found an all new audience all these years later, and along with that has come lots and lots of merchandise. But until now no one had paid tribute to the NYC gang through makeup.
Budget-friendly brand Makeup Revolution just released a collection dedicated to the characters on the show, and die-hard fans will not want to miss it. The line includes a 27 pan eyeshadow palette with shades paying tribute to not only the main characters, but also beloved regulars like “Janice’ and “Gunther’. I love the director’s clapperboard packaging on this one, complete with the famous Friends font. Also for the eyes are three 9-pan mini palettes, each dedicated to the show’s leading ladies. The Phoebe palette serves up shades like ‘Science Boy’ and ‘Smelly Cat”, The Rachel gives us gems like ‘On A Break’ and ‘Barneys’, and last but certainly not least, the Monica features shades like ‘Bing’ and ‘Gellar Cup’. There is also 3 satin matte lipsticks; Phoebe (deep pink), Rachel (soft mauve) and Monica (soft pinky peach). The only thing that I can say is missing here is maybe a ‘Pivot’ blush (because honestly something here needed to say Pivot!)
After reading the response to these products I saw a few people say that these items aren’t ‘bright’ enough, and my take on that is pretty simple. The girl’s apartment was certainly colorful with it’s soft purple walls, but the ladies themselves never wore a ton of makeup. Give or take a rare bold lip all 3 characters stayed pretty neutral. Even Phoebe never wore wild makeup shades, but rather went a little crazier with fun coats and hair accessories than say, an electric blue eyeliner. It simply isn’t who they were. And besides that, do we really need yet another palette filled with unwearable bright shadows? I think not.
The collection thankfully runs on the affordable side, ranging from $8-$25 and are now exclusively online at Ulta. Some other goodies are due to land on the official Makeup Revolution website (items like a Friends mirror and makeup bag) on September 16th. Below you can shop all of the items, and never fear if some are ‘out of stock’ as more products are surely on the way!
