Outfit Inspiration: ‘Kimono Crazy’
Ever since momma-to-be Beyonce’s $21, 945 Gucci robe grazed the floor of the NBA All-Star game, I have had kimonos on the brain.
The pricey piece is designed with a bold floral print pattern, tiger motif pockets, snake and hare applique, and accented by lilac and chartreuse mink fur. But let’s face it, a normal gal cannot afford a kimono that costs more than some cars. But when you’re Queen Bey, you do have this luxury. And chances are Gucci perhaps gifted this to the superstar, as designers tend to do with celebrities. In any case, she rocked it. So for this week’s outfit I had to create my very on kimono dream look.
This star print Mira Mikati kimono is still not exactly affordable, but it is several thousands of dollars less than the coveted Gucci one worn by Bey. I love how light and flowy this piece looks, and the colorful stars make accessorizing even more fun. I kept the accompanying clothing choices (Givenchy jeans and a Tibi camisole) classic and simple, allowing the robe to all of the talking. But, I could not resist going for a head-turning shoe. Balenciaga’s statement pumps help make a colorful impact, and add instant footwear glam. Made from bright yellow lustrous stain, lavish tonal feathers, and the label’s signature slanted ‘broken heel’. Feathers have always been one of my favorite embellishments, so these beauties had my heart the instant I laid eyes on them. To bring out those electric pops of hot pink, Tom Ford’s vibrant ‘Sienna’ bag is the perfect fit. Small enough to run errands in, yet bold enough to stop traffic. Being a makeup artist, I fully believe that no great look is complete without a little (or a lot!) of makeup. Tarte’s Drench Lip Splash, is a full-coverage matte lipstick that leaves your lips feeling creamy and hydrated. Also, how stunning is their Rainforest of the Sea ombre packaging? Obsessed!
