Being a girl who grew up loving fashion in the 90’s, there were no two designers that made a lasting impact more than Karl Lagerfeld and Gianni Versace. Which is probably why Anne Hathaway was hands down my favorite look from last night’s Met Gala in NYC.
Anne’s custom-made gown was like a marriage between the two legendary designers; from the signature safety pins and body hugging silhouette of the 90’s Versace era to Karl’s love of Camelia flowers, tweed & pearls. This piece really captured the essence of Karl Lagerfeld and the influence he had throughout his entire career. To accompany her nostalgic gown, makeup artist Gucci Westman took inspiration from the bombshell supermodels of the 1990’s to take Anne’s look up a notch. Lightly smoked- out taupe eyes lined in black kohl, full brows, peachy-toned cheeks and a soft petal lip were all it took for the Oscar winner to deliver a Claudia Schiffer-esque beauty look for the books. It was all topped with a voluminous half up/half down hairdo by Orlando Pita, that exuded serious Brigitte Bardot vibes.
