The Cannes Film Festival is hands down one of my most favorite fashion events of the year. It is right up there with the Oscars and Met Gala when it comes to celebrity packed red carpets. This year’s festival is only a few days in and is already turning out unforgettable looks.
Anya Taylor-Joy remains one of the It-Girls of Hollywood and never fails to leave her mark on a red carpet. For the premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga during the festival, Anya brought classic old Hollywood glamour to the French Riviera. Wearing a divine Dior Haute Couture glittering beige ball gown paired with major Tiffany’s jewels, The Queen’s Gambit star made a much needed return to her more glamorous roots. Not that I don’t appreciate her more recent, bold choices, but this genre of dressing feels much more true to the style that put her on the fashion map. It will come as no surprise that my absolute favorite parts of this looks were of course her impeccable hair and makeup. Hairstylist Gregory Russell gave the star an elegant figure 8 twist while makeup artist Georgie Eisdell played up Anya’s stunning doe eyes with a shimmery champagne shadow, a flicked-out matte black eyeliner and a deep red lip with just a hint of glossy sheen. If you’re going to do Cannes, you might as well do it up in grand fashion and that is just what Taylor-Joy and her team did.
