Beauty Report: Kevyn Aucoin ‘Making Faces’ Beauty Book

Photo: Trendmood/ Kevyn Aucoin Beauty

I have loved makeup pretty much my entire life, but I never had a strong desire to create looks on others until one year for Christmas I was given a copy of Kevyn Aucoin’s “Making Faces”.
Even as a teenager I was familiar with Kevyn’s work, but I had never in my life seen such artistry and transformation before opening this book. Kevyn had the magical talent to transform anyone (specifically famous friends) from a beloved face we recognize, to an old Hollywood starlet simply by using makeup. I remember falling love in with his transformation of Calista Flockhart into Audrey Hepburn. I honestly believe that was the moment I realized just how amazing makeup truly is. The title is just as perfect today, because making faces is exactly what Kevyn did. The book itself remains a cult favorite among the beauty community and makeup artists. Now the team behind Kevyn’s cosmetic company is keeping his memory and talent alive by bringing “Making Faces” back in a big way.  The brand took the concept of the best selling book and has turned it into it’s very own makeup palette. The beauty book will contain 3 chapters, and retail for $75. Chapter 1 is Contour & Sculpt, Chapter 2 focuses on blush and defining, and chapter 3 has an emphasis on the eyes. The eye chapter includes 8 brand new shades with both satin and matte finishes.

The Making Faces Beauty Book will be available online at Sephora on August 4th, Barneys on August 7th,  and in all partnering retail stores on August 11th.
