Beauty Report: Aaliyah x Mac Cosmetics Collection

Even 16 years after her passing Aaliyah Haughton is still one of the most beloved stars in the music industry.

The Brooklyn born singer was killed in 2001 in a fatal plane crash after shooting a music video for her song ‘Rock The Boat”. Aaliyah had a special style that was all her own, and coveted by many.  Two years ago her fans created a petition to honor the late star with a Mac Cosmetics collection designed in her honor. This week news broke that the collection is finally happening. Aaliyah fans everywhere rejoiced, as their attempts were finally deemed a success.  We will have to wait a while to get our hands on the collection which is slated for release Summer 2018. Mac has a tendency to push out a lot of collections with rapid speed, so to me the long wait is an excellent sign. I’m sure Aaliyah’s family will have involvement in creating the pieces and shades, and such a special line should be created in the most well thought-out manner possible. Aaliyah was truly one in a million and I am hoping Mac will make sure this collection lives up to her legacy.
