Makeup News: Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Has Arrived!

Rihanna is one of the most beautiful women in the world so it’s no wonder that her fans and beauty devotees have been counting down the days until the launch of her new line Fenty Beauty.
The collection hit Sephora today (and is probably selling out as I write this) and I must say I am pleasantly surprised. When a celebrity creates a makeup collection your gut reaction is often to eyeroll. With so many putting such little thought and creativity into it’s often hard to get your expectations up. But when you look through this line you can really see Rihanna’s involvement. The first thing that caught my eye is her attention to detail when it comes to shade availability with her foundation. Being a woman of color, the Barbados born beauty knows first hand how difficult it can be to shop a brand with limited selection. Fenty Beauty has came straight out of the gate with 40 shades from the palest of ivory to the richest of browns. Several respected, high-end brands that have been in business for years still can’t grasp the importance of this, so the fact she focused on it says alot about her passion for her customers.
Since the star is known for her stunning glow, the collection will also offer different sparkle levels for everyone. Six wet-or-dry powder highlighters, four duos and two singles. The duos have one subtle shimmery shade and one more intense shade or those of us who want to be a little extra. There is also brushes, a makeup sponge, a primer, and a matchstick trio for contouring/concealing/highlighting. Lipsticks and eye products haven’t launched just yet but after seeing these opening items I am very excited for what’s to come.
Two other bases Rihanna has brilliantly covered is the availability of Fenty. The brand can be purchased globally-yes, globally. Both Sephora and the official Fenty website will ship orders internationally. Rihanna has a massive fan-base so to say this decision was wise would be an understatement. Another thing to applaud (and perhaps my favorite) is the entire collection is cruelty-free. Meaning no harmless little animals were used for testing in the making of these products. Rihanna has really crossed her t’s and dotted her i’s here, making me respect her hustle even more.
