Beauty Report: Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Lip Color

Maybelline has always been my favorite brands when it comes to drugstore lip products, especially of the nude variety. So anytime they release a new line of lip color I am always very excited to try them. Especially when they come in liquid form, because finding a liquid lipstick that feels comfortable and wears long is like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.
Maybelline was kind of enough to send me the new Matte Ink collection to try (not sponsored) and so far I must say I am very impressed. First of all, the 20 shade options are impeccable. Since I do free-lance makeup on the side I love when a company delivers large shade ranges in basically any product. The more variety you have to choose from the more it caters to specefic skintones and personal tastes. Being the nude lover I am, I immediately fell in love with all the different options there are. Pink nudes, brown nudes, true nudes-you name it and you can find it here. There is also a gorgeous variety of reds, pinks, purples, and even off the wall shades like a deep grey. Then we have the price, which depending on where you shop is under $10. Not bad for a beautiful, long-wearing lipstick. The packaging of these beauties has a sleek, matte finish with a doe foot applicator. If I had any suggestions to approve what I have tried so far it would be to work on the scent. They smell and taste a bit like plastic. I know some people prefer unscented all together, but I wouldn’t mind some cupcakey yumminess with these. The nudes wear well with only one swipe, while the richer shades need a little building to avoid streakiness. I can’t vouch for the 16-hour wear because I didn’t do a time test, but they definitely don’t smudge, and I had to scrub some of the shades off my arm after doing a little swatching.
