Get The Look: Kacey Musgraves’s Barbie Beauty At The 2019 Met Gala
I know I tend to feature a lot of Kacey Musgraves beauty looks on here, but as long as makeup artist Moani Lee keeps delivering these breathtaking looks, I fully plan on featuring them. For this week’s Met Gala she turned Kacey into a living Barbie doll, and naturally her hair and makeup stole the show.
Being a first timer at the gala most attendees play it safe going into such a coveted event, but not miss Kacey. The theme of the evening was camp, and while most people had no idea what that even meant, Kacey was one of the very few who completely nailed it. Very few iconic figures are more campy than Barbie, and even less designers can pull it off quite like Jeremy Scott of Moschino. I have been a longtime fan of his interpretation of pop culture through fashion, especially his Barbie inspired pieces. For the Met Gala, Kacey fully transformed into a glamorous pink dream. From her perfectly constructed fuchsia dress to her impeccable hair and makeup she proved life in plastic truly is fantastic.
For Musgraves’s makeup Moani wanted to celebrate Barbie’s classic all American girl look, that of course meant long blonde hair (I cannot get over this wig!), mile long lashes and of course a pouty pink lip. Using Pat McGrath products Kacey was taken from country queen to a Barbie dream. Lee took to Instagram to share they key products and techniques she used to turn Kacey into a marvelous Matell fantasy come to life.
