Beauty Report: Selena Gomez Launches ‘Rare Beauty’ Cosmetics Line

The trend of celebrities starting their own cosmetics lines is not about to stop anytime soon. The newest lady to jump on board is none of other than pop princess Selena Gomez. Rather than making just another collection of makeup, Selena’s focus is all about embracing our flaws and essentially what makes each of us ‘rare’ in our own way.

I know when I think of Selena’s makeup my mind immediately goes to her longtime makeup artist, the immensely talented Hung Vanngo who has given the star many of her unforgettable red carpet looks over the years. Red lips, winged eyes, sparkly lids, you name it and Selena has probably worn it. After teasing her brand for months now Rare Beauty was finally introduced to the world this week. The overall look of the products are pretty sleek and low fuss. The packaging serves up a chic creamy matte finish with shiny gold accents, while the price point is reasonable peeking at $29 (as of right now.) The line is starting out with 17 products including a liquid eyeliner (for those Selena-like cat eyes), liquid lipsticks, lip balms, foundation (with a whopping 48 shades), concealer, brow pencils, brushes and more.

Being the savvy business lady that Ms Gomez is, I think it was very wise to offer the collection at Sephora as well as the official Rare Beauty site. Many new brands tend to sell exclusively through their own websites,where free shipping is seldom offered, and it puts off the consumer. Now customers will not only be able to gain those Sephora points from this line, they can also go in-store and see the products for themselves.
